CCWS: “hey… I know it’s been 7wks…

and you missed all of your home town hero’s wins this year due to NO tv coverage until late in the season, but we thought we would basically negate ANY chance of a win or reaping revenge for last year by doing this… “

Nice. Let’s piss everyone off BEFORE the race weekend while in negotiations for the future of the event…

And this is the man that we are pinning our hopes on to make the RIGHT decisions and right the sinking ship that is CC? Zoinks… Stormy seas ahead me thinks…

Well, that’s a pretty cool birthday present…

SIERRA SIERRA ENTERPRISES SIGNS 2007 MAZDA CHAMPION DANE CAMERON

Minden, NV (October 18, 2007) – Sierra Sierra Enterprises has signed the 2007 Star Mazda Champion, Dane Cameron, to its 2008 line up. Cameron, who turns 19 on October 18th, is only one of two rookies to claim the championship in the 17-year history of the series.

“We are extremely pleased to have a driver of Dane’s caliber on the Sierra Sierra team. Having a rookie puts us in the position to compete for both the Championship and Rookie of the Year awards. We have a very strong team and expect this season to be as exciting as 2007”, said Richard Raeder, Sierra Sierra Team Manager.

Despite his youth, Cameron brings with him a strong resume and proof that he is no stranger to the podium. Beginning with his success in karting, he has built upon his skill and raced in numerous notable series. His past accolades include:

2007 Star Mazda Champion (3 wins, 5 pole positions, 4 podium finishes)
2006 Formula Palmer Audi, Autumn Trophy Winner
2006 Rookie of the Year and Champion Runner Up, FF2000
2005 SCCA Formula Russell, 6 wins, 7 pole positions, 10 podiums

Sierra Sierra is proud to be a strong advocate for the driver development concept facilitated by the Mazda Motorsport and Champ Car World Series programs.
The most recent success was 2005 Start Mazda Champion, Raphael Matos. Matos went on to drive for Sierra Sierra in 2006 and 2007 – claiming the championship in 2007. Matos will take the $2 Million prize to race in the 2008 Champ Car World Series.

The Sierra Sierra team is eager to build upon the success of the 2007 season and bring another driver to the championship ranks.

“We are really excited to have Dane join the Sierra Sierra family. We have been watching his progress throughout this season and project an exciting 2008!”, said Diane Kottke, Sierra Sierra team owner.

To get a preview of Dane Cameron in action, the season-finale of the 2007 Star Mazda Championship will take place October 20th at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This race will be re-broadcast on Monday, October 29th at 3:00 and 4:00pm EST.

How great to know you’re going to move up the ladder & already have a secured ride as you head into the final race of your season. He was a pleasure to watch all season (I’ve said all year that Star Mazda was some of the best racing in 2007) and I look forward to watching and getting to know him in CCA.
Congrats and happy birthday Dane!
