Monday Afternoon I got to hang out with some colleagues at the Ferrari Maserati of Ontario showroom for the Aim Autosport – Racing With Ferrari Rolex Series Team Announcement/Driver & Car Unveiling.
They are pairing their current driver, reigning Rolex Series GT Champion Jeff Segal with the irrepressible Max Papis! Everytime I get to spend anytime with Max, I like him even more than previously if that is possible. He is the total package as a driver. On track, he’s a beast! Off track, he is charming and funny and the consummate professional. I think, with this move, AIM Autosport has just upped their game in a big way, both on track and off track.
Here is a little gallery after the jump from the event. Enjoy!
- Love being surrounded by a bit of history…
- Herjavec. Robert Herjavec. — at Ferrari Maserati of Ontario.
- mmmm… a room full of red race cars… — at Ferrari Maserati of Ontario.
- Drumroll Please… — at Ferrari Maserati of Ontario.
- tada! … — at Ferrari Maserati of Ontario.
- oooh pretty… — at Ferrari Maserati of Ontario.
- And when I turned around, there was Max!
- us watching Max, watching… Max!
- Ferrari of Ontario President Remo Ferri spoke very passionately about the cars, and racing…
- and Max… seen here with co-driver & reigning Rolex Series GT Champion Jeff Segal
- This fellow was from Italy representing Ferrari … I do not remember his name… but he had a lovely voice and charming accent.
- Max took the mic and made some lovely remarks. Aim certainly hit the jackpot with him!
- Kid in a Candy Store!
- I love watching drivers talk to each other about driving the cars…
- and no, it’s not just “an Italian thing” with the hand gestures ;-)
- Gilles Villeneuve’s car was on display as well
- Look out kids, AIM Autosport is out for the Championship in 2013!
- Max… don’t flip that switch…
- ok, Max, but don’t press that button…
- Mischievous little bugger that Max! (but we all enjoyed the throaty growl and heady whiff of exhaust!! so thanks!!)
- Already discussing strategy… Rolex 24 at Daytona will be here sooner than you think!!
Thanks again to everyone at Ferrari and AIM Autosport for having us out this afternoon. Not a bad way to spend a Monday
Can’t wait to see that car unleashed on track!

It’s good to see Max Papis back in sports cars! It’s also good to see AIM going to two cars for 2013; splitting Assentato and Segal is an interesting move but I think Segal and Papis will be a good combo. Did they say who will be paired with Assentato?
Thanks for the photos of the 333, I don’t think I’ll ever forget what Max did in one in at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1996! It was simply a mind blowing performance in a car that didn’t have the reliability of the endurance race cars of today.
