Damn… when I said he drives better in the chase, I was thinking from midpack… I didn’t mean from the back of the field. Well… he started from there twice last weekend and won the damn race…
MONT-TREMBLANT, Que. (CP) – Veteran Paul Tracy will start the Champ Car Mont-Tremblant race from the back of the grid after crashing his car in practice on Sunday morning.
The Toronto driver, who qualified in 11th position, was bumped to 17th and last spot because he will have to use his spare car for the race. The penalty is for using a different car in the race than was used in qualifying.
Tracy was unhurt, but his car was badly damaged, when it went off the track and into a protective wall on a high-speed turn near the end of the 2.65-mile Mont-Tremblant Circuit during the 30-minute practice session.
Tracy had his steering rack replaced overnight, but found it loose.
“As soon as I went quick, I tried to turn and the car went straight,” said the Forsythe Racing driver.
I guess the race just got even more interesting huh?
