The circus is in town…

So, I’m beyond exhausted at this moment, but I thought I would jot down a few notes before I crashed for the night.

This race event/weekend is still far from it’s former glory. Leaps and bounds as far as the preamble goes.

Today was a day of one step forward/two steps back. So many things were ‘this close” to being great, but fell short. :insert wah wah wah sound:

Things that were great, which mostly had nothing to do with this weekend’s event. My racing yaya’s are in town. There are friends, there are childhood friends, there are everyday friends and then there are racing friends. Racing friends get it. They get the joy of burning eyes and throats from being on pitlane. The get the frantic schedule. They get the ear to ear grin that only time at a race track can evoke.

I had a great time at the street party. (much room for improvement dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

oops.. I literally nodded off there. (so beyond tired right now)

Highlights of my day: Seeing Bronte get her first ever 2-seater ride with Tags as the driver.

Getting a pace car ride with Stefan Wilson on my home track  *woot*

watching the IndyCar drivers who weren’t on “our side of the fence” watching the San Jose moment between Tags and PT from on track incident to off track throwdown. I don’t think I’ve ever seen either Dario or Will as animated as They were earlier. (pics later) dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

shit… fell asleep again, so I’m gonna bail on this and prepare for the morning.

  1. lol nice stream of conscious blogging.

  2. More like stream of UNconsciousness, judging by the strings of “d”s

Meesh, I’m watchin the live feed of the ugly junior cars, and I could swear the pit lane is in a different spot. Do my eyes deceive me, or did they actually re-do the front stretch?

  3. Steph is saying at P-IRL that things are considerably better than last year. Let’s hope it saves them a Meesh savaging this year 🙂
Enjoy – I’m so pleased this event is becoming big again, so much that I may just add it to the bucket list.

  4. I luv chicken

Pits are the same, but the pit side stands may have been move back a foot or two. Seemed like a bit more room to move around behind the crews.
In all honesty, if they had put the Indycar Honda engine int the bakc of the Indy Lites cars, the result would be more pleasing.
At least those cars look like race cars.
Looked like a respectable bit of sponsorship on most of the Indy Cars.

I’m amazed, since I would have thought that most of the drivers had some sort of road racing history, that many of them haven’t a clue how to apex a corner.
Oh, Will Power will take this race, He is sneaky fast, brings a smile to your face, just watching.

  5. Hahaha, your hero is not doing as hot this year as you wish, no? Add that to your list of reasons to be bored. 🙂

  6. Tracy starts just ahead of Milka Duno? I hope Meesh’s head hasn’t exploded!

  7. “It’s Go Go, not Cry Cry…”

  8. PT up front! With some good luck to boot…

In the words of meesh… WOOT!

  9. Ok, it’s official…PT is done career wise. Time to hang it up for him…. He’s just out there over driving the cars and can’t seem to get any feel for set-up in practice or quals and then drives like someone dearly clinging onto some miniscule tiny piece of relevance to open wheel he still has left…sad.

    • BullShit, he’s done. Without a regular ride for the third year now, and he still generates a “Wow” factor that few others come close to.

Bounce from team-to-team, jump in a car with a crew that you barely know, an engineer that you have very little rapport/history with, and see what happens.

To then to be greeted with a line like that nonsense from someone who Obviously has an immense pool of knowledge about what’s really pertinent in the skillsets and making of a good driver, and what distinguishes him (or her) from someone who’s “done career wise” (a comma and a hyphen would serve you well there, btw)…kinda chafes those who’ve paid attention for more than two or three years.

As has been well-documented in the past, opinions are like…well, you know.
